Like cooking a gourmet meal or brewing a great pot of coffee, you want to start with premium ingredients, meticulously plan out each step, and execute to perfection

As technology experts and specialists in social games, we've been in the casual gaming industry since 2003.

We've developed for everything from mobile devices such as iPhone and Android to social games on Facebook; with a broad range of technology like Flash, Shockwave, and Unity; and for a diverse list of corporate clients and brands like MTV, Nabisco, VH1, Planters, BET, Comedy Central, Arm & Hammer, Porsche, Sundance, Trojan, Newman's Own, Tic Tac, Absolut, Skoal, Estee Lauder, Sanofi Aventis, Genentech, Novartis, and UCB.

As a full-service, game development company, we do as much or as little as you need: concept creation, game design, architecture, art direction, asset production, modeling, 2D/3D, specifications, project management, development, deployment, testing, maintenance, content management, performance tuning, scaling, optimization, debugging, code base management, server management, website design, CMS development, web services, and CMS development.

We have developed original stand-alone casual games, large-scale social Facebook games, full game portals, as well as game reskinning and porting of existing games to different platforms. We've built over fifteen full website portals and worked on over 100+ games.

If you have certain technologies requirements, or if you have existing software that needs to be extended, we will be happy to work with those. Our diverse knowledge base enables us to build to your technology stack. If you are not committed to a particular technology, we can make a recommendation tailored to the requirements of your project. A look at our projects will show expertise in: ActionScript, Ajax, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, jquerry, LAMP, Lingo, MySQL, .NET, Objective-C, PHP, SQL Server, Unity.

We want to be involved with your project as early as possible, serving as advisor and social games expert to help guide it to its best potential.

In addition to game development, we offer consulting services in all areas of our expertise. Please call to discuss what Blackburst Digital can do for you.

We want to be involved with your project as early as possible; serving as advisor and social games expert to help guide it to its best potential.

We can tailor a game development project to your price, time and development needs. We have two game development options for you to choose from. 1) For clients who want the maximum opportunity to change the design on the fly, we offer our agile development process. (Charged hourly by our rate sheet.) 2) For clients on a fixed budget, we offer our waterfall development process. (We work out all of the details, commit it to a game design doc and then build it. Changes incur an extra charge in this process.)

Design Phase

Design work is performed by our Senior Designers and Developers. The process begins with discovery sessions that can be held over the phone, Skype or in person.

These sessions are dynamic and engaging, designed to obtain as much insight and scope as possible at the beginning of the project. Discovery will produce a set of core functionality and parameters that will outline the development work to be done following the session. It begins with the simple question of, "What does the game do?" It doesn't end until every element of the game is understood. Our discovery team will create wireframes to map out all areas of your game to make sure all aspects have been captured.

Production Phase

Once a game enters the production phase, a project team will be put together. A project team consists of a project manager, one or more developers (which may include the project manager), a tester, and a graphic artist (if needed).

We're normally able to start projects within two weeks of finalizing the business arrangements.

You'll be connected to the same systems that all our developers use for task and bug management, chat and video conferences. In effect, you'll be "on site" everyday at our "office." That said, we are very aware of the value of face-to-face communication, and projects often begin with an on-site kickoff meeting.

Work-in-progress is released once a week, ensuring your project stays on track. Each release is accompanied by detailed release notes explaining what has been added since the previous release and pointing out areas of the game that require immediate testing.
